ISBA SUMMER SEMINAR 2026

Dear ISBA member and friend,
ISBA and Shiseikan-kancho have kindly accepted our proposal to organize the International Shiseikan
Budo Summer Seminar in Germany from 10th to 16th of August 2026 with the support of Meiji Jingu
and Meiji Jingu Shiseikan.
Konrad Hager, Hans-Martin Heinkel, Guillaume Angleys and members of the Aikido Group of
Stuttgart University (Aikido Gruppe der Universität Stuttgart) will jointly work as heads of hosting
country dojos

1. The seminar title will be chosen in 2026.

2. The seminar will be conducted under the leadership of Shiseikan Kancho Udagawa Tetsuya
accompanied by a priest from Meiji Jingu, Shiseikan instructors, senior level delegation &
students from the Shiseikan and associated universities, assisted by instructors from dojos
under the umbrella of ISBA.

3. The seminar will take place at: Landessportschule Ruit, Kirchheimer Str. 125, 73760
Ostfildern, near Stuttgart, Germany. The venue offers:
• 2 Training halls, a big one (Spielhalle: 44m x 22m) and a smaller one (Multihalle: 30m x
26,5m). In the bigger one we will have about 200 to possibly 400m2 tatamis. Every
building in the venue is reachable within a few minutes’ walk.
• A room for the General Assembly or other meeting purposes.
• Accommodation in double room with bathroom and toilet. A few single room are
available at extra cost (30 € per day).
• Wifi access is available over the whole campus.
• 3 meals per day are served in the canteen, in form of a buffet and will satisfy needs of
meat-eater and vegetarian people.
• A 24h open Cafeteria with a coffee machine.
• A “Stube”, kind of a bar, where participants can sit together and talk while drinking some
beverage.
• The venue is a non-smoking area, excepted in dedicated places.
• Also it is not allowed to bring alcoholic beverages from outside into the venue.

4. The seminar dates are: Monday 10th to Sunday 16th of August 2026.
Arrival: Monday from 13:00 on.
Departure: Sunday 16th of August until 13:00 (leaving rooms until 9:00).

5. The seminar fee is: 810,00 €. This amount covers: accommodation in double room, full
board (3 meals) from Tuesday to Saturday, dinner on Monday, breakfast on Sunday, a culture
day. Supplement for single room (only a very small number available): 30,00 € per day.
Participants will be required to bring 2000 ¥ in cash as an offering to the Meiji Jingu. We
kindly ask participants for donations to cover interpreting, thank you.
We will try to organize a laundry service, which will be at an extra cost.

6. The attendance priority to the seminar is first of all given to people involved in the study of
Budo with long-term relationship to the Shiseikan and intense commitment to ISBA and
Shiseikan related activities, recommended by ISBA member dojo leaders.
The final selection of participants will be made following the ‘guidelines’.
Applications are welcomed in the ‘participant application’ form file only. By applying, each
applying person automatically agrees to obey the attached “rules and regulations”.

7. The official languages of the seminar are Japanese and English.

8. The total number of people for which the seminar is planned is 87, including teachers, priest,
interpreters, participants and seminar staff. The total number of people could be increased
slightly if needed.

9. The seminar program consists of ceremonies, mental and physical practice, lectures, cultural
events and free-time activities. Also, the General Assembly of Representatives, preceded by
leaders’ and delegates’ meeting and discussion, will probably be held in the middle of the
seminar.

10. As the price of the seminar is high, the cultural program will be kept very simple to avoid
extra costs.

11. Due to the difficulties finding an appropriate location for the summer seminar in 2026, the
contact with the Landessportschule Ruit has been established very late. The location is
currently reserved but we will need to confirm the reservation very soon. We need to have
the required number of 80 participants and their payment before we firmly book, as
otherwise we face expensive cancellation fees. That is why, the time schedule for
registration and payment is very short.

12. Application for participation must reach us before 5.01.2026.

13. Application approval will be sent before 12.01.2026. Payment for participants will have to be
on our account before 22.01.2026. Please take into account money transfer time. For more
